Gondolas on the Flumserberg stand still for 90 minutes – News Panorama: Miscellaneous

In the late Saturday afternoon, the aerial cableway to the Flumserberg ski area stopped for two times. This was due to technical problems.

During the rush hour, the aft gondolas only ran from the Tannenboden station to the Oberterzen middle station. Operation to the Unterterzen valley station had to be completely stopped. The winter sports enthusiasts had to be transported from the middle station down to the valley in several Postbuses and minibuses. There was traffic jam at the stations.

A Tamedia journalist reported that some passengers were stuck in the gondolas for up to 90 minutes. The passengers who had to wait in the gondolas just a few meters in front of the valley station and were unable to get out also experienced a test of patience.

The breakdown meant that the lower section of the railway, Unterterzen – Oberterzen, had to be disconnected from the electricity and operated with diesel. The gondolas on the upper section could be operated with electricity, but they drove at a snail’s pace down the valley. According to Katja Wildhaber, Marketing Director of the Bergbahnen Flumserberg, the cause of the technical malfunction is not yet known.

Some of the passengers concerned felt that they were poorly informed about the incident. After all, there were vouchers as a consolation plaster – a five-franc voucher for the next visit to a restaurant in the ski area. There were two of these vouchers for passengers who had to wait a long time in the gondolas. (Red)
