The measures announced on Friday in the fight against the corona virus could have been a bit stricter. That said Diederik Gommers, chairman of the Dutch Association for Intensive Care (NVIC), on the TV program Op1.
Gommers is concerned that Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health said he still needs weeks to get the testing policy in order. “The entire system is built around testing and source and contact research. If that takes weeks, then I am worried. ”
Because of that handicap, Gommer would have preferred stricter measures to be imposed. “We now have to be stricter, so that we can relax again when we have things back in order. I think that you should go into a light lockdown regionally. ”
Instead of announcing that the cafes will close earlier, he would have preferred a firmer approach. Especially because he sees more patients with corona entering hospitals. “Then I say: keep going.”
