Gómez-Reino affirms that Rafael Louzán’s lawsuit against him seeks to “politically intimidate” a public official

A CORUÑA, 6 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The general secretary of Podemos Galicia, Antón Gómez-Reino, has stated that the lawsuit filed by the former president of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, Rafael Louzán, seeks to “politically intimidate” a public official.

The leader of United We Can made these statements at the doors of the courts of A Coruña, which he attended for a conciliation ceremony held this Monday morning, which has been settled without an agreement between the parties.

Rafael Louzán, who did not attend the conciliation act, has sued Gómez-Reino for slander and insults after accusing him “of being corrupt” in the electoral debate of the 2020 regional elections.

The events occurred in the last elections during a television debate in which the candidate of the Galicia en Común-Anova Mareas coalition addressed the head of the PP list and president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and listed several cases of corruption in which popular leaders were involved – such as the ‘Patos’ and ‘Pokémon’ plots, among others – and he mentioned names such as Louzán, Pablo Crespo and Marcial Dorado.

Louzán has demanded that Gómez-Reino ask for “public apologies” in the same media in which he made the accusations. He has also asked him to apologize “in a personal letter signed in his own hand” and to compensate him with 15,000 euros in damages.

The deputy in Congress has said that what he said is “what all the media were exposing, that this man was being investigated for issues related to corruption.” The former member of the PP was sentenced in February 2021 to two years in prison and eight years of disqualification for prevarication and fraud.

“PUBLIC AND NOTORIOUS”

The general secretary of Podemos Galicia wanted to send a clear message: “No one is going to make us stop saying what, on the other hand, is public and notorious in this country, that the PP has numerous cases of corruption and that Mr. Rafael Louzán he participated in what has to do with these cases first as investigated and now as convicted, regardless of whether it is in the first instance. “

At the end of the conciliation act, the leader of Podemos Galicia reaffirmed that he had not slandered Louzán at any time. He confirmed that the former president of the Diputación de Pontevedra will continue with his demand and once again said that this is only intended to “intimidate.”
