Liverpool –
Joe Gomez had successful knee tendon surgery. Now defender Liverpool it remains only to undergo recovery while saving hope to appear again this season.
Gomez received a knee injury while undergoing a training session with the England national team yesterday. Gomez suddenly collapsed himself after jumping to reach the ball.
It was reported that in the British media, Gomez was in pain and had to be carried out by The Three Lions’ team of doctors. After that, Gomez immediately underwent a scan by a team of doctors.
The result is a problem with the Gomez tendon and requires surgery. Fortunately, it was not part of Gomez’s ligament that was hit, so there is a possibility that the 23-year-old defender could return to play again before the 2020/2021 season is complete.
“Liverpool can confirm that Joe Gomez underwent successful surgery to repair the tendon in his left knee,” said a Liverpool official statement.
“The center-back suffered an injury during training with the England national team on Wednesday. The problem is in the Gomez tendon, and it has no effect on other knee ligaments.”
“The operation was carried out to repair the damage and carried out in London on Thursday morning, was successful. Now the 23-year-old defender will undergo a full recovery.”
“Gomez will immediately undertake a recovery program with the medical team as soon as possible, with the medical team supervised his progress.”
In his absence Joe Gomez for a long time, Liverpool only had Joel Matip as their only senior center-back and that too was prone to injury. Meanwhile, the rest are young defenders, Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams.
Meanwhile, Fabinho is likely to be played as an impromptu central defender again, and not as a defensive midfielder.
