“Golos” urged the president to veto the draft law on e-declaration, which was voted today

“We have consistently advocated the renewal of punishment for unscrupulous officials and supported all positive changes to the presidential bill. So, the Council adopted today partially meets the stated goals, but we cannot agree that the majority at the last moment sewed two toxic norms into a positive draft law, “the statement says.

• the possibility not to declare the property of family members, if the declarant allegedly is not notified of its presence;
• for failure to submit a declaration, the currently voted law does not provide for imprisonment, but only a restriction, as it was before.

“Golos” did not support these amendments, which significantly worsen the transparency of officials’ declarations. We need to do more. We appeal to the President to veto the bill and return it to parliament for consideration with proposals that will correct the unacceptable norms of the adopted law. Or “Golos” will be forced to submit a separate bill to eliminate these defects. The punishment for lying in the declarations for the top corrupt officials should be prison, “the party said.
