Golkar Party Pushes for Airlangga Hartarto as Prabowo’s Running Mate in 2024 Election

Head of Balitbang DPP Golkar Party Jerry Sambuaga said the Golkar Party and all Golkar cadres are trying their hardest and as much as possible to ensure that General Chairperson Airlangga Hartarto becomes part of the presidential or vice presidential candidates in 2024 presidential election.

“Do your best to ensure that our general chairman is a general chairman who can also be part of that and also the discussion, and hopefully in the future he will be one of those who will determine it,” he said when met at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Jakarta, Monday (29/5).

Jerry also responded to the possibility of Gerindra Party general chairman and presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto having a duet with Airlangga in the 2024 presidential election. According to him, the Golkar Party continues to communicate with Prabowo to PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan and PPP chairman Mardiono at the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) regarding the matter. possible pair.

“I think that it’s communication (Prabowo-Airlangga). And also of course what has been established so far between the party chairmen is going well Pak Airlangga, Ketum Pak Prabowo and also KIB Bang Zul and also PPP,” said Jerry.

Nevertheless, the Deputy Minister of Trade said that the Golkar Party is still waiting for the decision of the general chairmen of the political parties who are in communication. However, he believes that Airlangga Hartarto will take part in the 2024 presidential election and make the right decision for Golkar.

Cadre expectations regarding the Prabowo-Airlangga duet

In the same place, Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Nurul Arifin admitted that the Prabowo-Airlangga duet was the hope of many cadres. However, Nurul said that the party bearing the banyan tree wanted to think smartly so that the Gerindra Party would not abandon it after hoping.

“This is indeed the hope of many cadres with Pak Prabowo, indeed we hope for all, but we all don’t want to be left alone, we have to think smartly,” said Nurul at the Golkar Party DPP office.

Nurul said that his party would make a simulation to pair Airlangga, who was expected to become a presidential candidate, with other candidates, including PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) to Zulkifli Hasan.

“So we also look at the format, for example Mr. Airlangga with Mr. Muhaimin, then Mr. Airlangga and Mr. Zulkifli Has. So everything is trying to make a simulation like that,” he said.

He emphasized that Golkar needed only one party to carry the presidential and cawapres candidates presidential threshold (PT). However, according to him, Golkar does not want to rush into making a decision because the presidential elections are far away and the political conditions are still dynamic.

“We’ll see because it’s still a long way off, the chairman also said we don’t need to rush because we don’t want to get into Batman’s trap, huh? Batman’s trap,” he said.

Previously, Deputy General Chair of the Golkar Party, Firman Soebagyo, did not rule out that Airlangga Hartarto could become Prabowo Subianto’s running mate for the 2024 presidential election. According to Firman, this proposal could be another alternative to the mandate of the Golkar Party’s National Conference so that Airlangga would run in the presidential election contest. According to him, the proposal is still in the process of being communicated with several parties.

“That is also an alternative. If it is possible, why not,” said Firman at the parliament complex, Thursday (25/5).
