Chairman of the Party GolkarAirlangga Hartarto admitted that he had assigned the Mayor of Medan as well as the President’s son-in-law Joko WidodoBobby Nasution is running for the 2024 regional elections.
Airlangga said Bobby would advance in North Sumatra. However, he was reluctant to say that Bobby would run at the provincial or district city level.
“Ada [Bobby Nasution]North Sumatra region,” said Airlangga at the Golkar Party DPP headquarters, Tuesday (21/11).
Airlangga said his party would nominate 1,117 regional head candidates, from governor, regent, to mayor, as well as their deputies. He has not mentioned the list of names.
However, apart from Bobby, there are Airin Rachmi Diany who will be promoted to Banten, Ridwan Kamil in West Java, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar in DKI Jakarta, and Khofifah Indar Parawansa in East Java.
“For Banten, there is Mrs. Airin and the Chair of TKD [pemenangan daerah Prabowo-Gibran], then Mr. Ridwan Kamil in West Java. Khofifah East Java. DKI Mr Zaky,” said Airlangga.
Meanwhile, when asked further about Bobby’s status, Airlangga did not give a firm answer. However, he has assigned the former PDIP cadre.
“It’s been an assignment. Interpret it yourself,” said Airlangga.
Meanwhile, Deputy General Chair of the Golkar Party, Ahmad Doli Kurnia, said that his party had communicated with Bobby long ago regarding his party’s assignment to nominate him in the regional elections. In fact, said Doli, Golkar’s plan to nominate Bobby had been conveyed before Bobby officially resigned and handed over the PDIP KTA.
“Before he withdrew his KTA, we had communicated and determined that he would be a candidate for governor or mayor of North Sumatra,” said Doli.
