The resumption of golf tournaments and events, coupled with the expansion of golf courses and the eagerness of golf tourists, will help Central Vietnam cement its position as one of the hotspots for golf tourism in Asia. in 2023.
Drift Travel Magazine quoted this statement from Vietnam Golf Coast (VGC), a recently re-launched golf destination promotion organization associated with outstanding golf courses in central Vietnam.
According to data from Vietnam Golf Tourism Association (VIGTA) in 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam hosted three million golf tourists, including 1.5 million foreigners, with a turnover of approximately 4.500 billion VND (approximately 189 million USD).
In 2021, Vietnam had been honored by the World Golf Awards (WGA) as the “Best Golf Destination in the World” and recognized as the best golf destination in Asia for the 5e consecutive year.
“Not only is Asia’s premier golf destination recovering from the pandemic, it is attracting more visitors than before“, said Gary Dixon, General Manager of Ba Na Hills Golf Club, one of the leading golf courses under VGC. The golf clubs here are considered to be the best in Asia.
The resumption is also reflected in several major golfing events scheduled for 2023, including the Asian finals of the Faldo Serie, the only men’s and women’s world amateur tournament, which will take place on the Laguna Golf Lang Co golf course next April.
Central Vietnam will also roll out the “red carpet” to welcome the global golf industry when Central Vietnam’s largest city Dà Nang hosts the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) and Asian Development Competition (ADT) tournaments throughout the year.
Mr Gary Dixon added: “The request resumes. I have said in the past that anyone who is serious about golf tourism should visit Vietnam at least once in their lifetime. With world class courses permanently open I will correct this and say you must come back“.
