Australian professional golfer Minjee Lee won record prize money at the US Open in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
The 26-year-old received a winner’s check for the first time of $1.8 million for the second major win of her career. The tournament was endowed with a total of ten million dollars.
The 26-year-old from Perth defended her lead on the final round from Mina Harigae (USA), who came into the clubhouse four strokes behind. Caroline Masson (Gladbeck) and Isabell Gabsa (Munich) shared 50th place. Sophia Popov from St. Leon Rot, who won the British Open in 2020, had already failed at the cut.
