Golf star Bryson DeChambeau took an unplanned outing at the PGA Tour’s Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina. Because the number five in the world rankings assumed not to have made the cut after the second round, he flew back home in a private jet – from Charlotte to Dallas in Texas. A distance of around 1,600 kilometers and almost three hours by flight.

However, that turned out to be the wrong decision.
After a 70 in the opening round, DeChambeau had played a 74 on the 71 par course on the second day and packed his things. Because only the best 65 players make the cut, DeChambeau was outside the top 90 players in the intermediate ranking. Actually, the intermediate result meant the safe end.

In North Carolina, however, a strong wind set in and many players deteriorated on their second round. And the cut limit fell – in the end to two over par. And so De Chambeau slipped to the shared 64th place.
DeChambeau found out that he had not been eliminated immediately after landing in Dallas – and immediately initiated return flight plans.
Departure 2.45 a.m., tee 8.10 a.m.
“We did a lot of puzzles last night to get back,” said the US Open defending champion. “One scenario was to turn around right away, but the crew couldn’t do that. So we had to get a new crew and fly out early the next morning. ”DeChambeau said it finally started at 2:45 am and was back at the golf course just before 7:00 am. The tee time was loud »USA Today« at 8:10 a.m.

In Dallas, DeChambeau said he had completed a training session that evening. He posted this too on Instagram: “Returned to Dallas for a quick workout. I’ll see you in Charlotte tomorrow, ”DeChambeau joked.
And that actually seemed to be paying off. Back in North Carolina, DeChambeau played his best round of the weekend, a 68 at the end. DeChambeau only gave a better result on the last hole, when he stayed two over par. He then admitted that the morning had not been easy, “but for whatever reason I have the feeling that the more strange things happen to me, the greater my resolve can sometimes be – and today was such a case.”
