You can now also play golf at Eintracht Frankfurt. The fans of Kickers Offenbach will find a detail to scream about.

Offenbach – Eintracht Frankfurt is expanding its range of sports. Among other things, there was already a bobsleigh department, now golf follows. The name of the facility on which the game is played is a source of amusement for fans of arch-rival Kickers Offenbach.

Sport is not always just competition, but also makes you smile every now and then. For example, the fact that there is midfielder Fabian Nürnberger in the second division soccer club 1. FC Nürnberg fits into the category “Can’t imagine.”

Kickers Offenbach: The fans wanted Daniel Offenbacher

Whereby: Thinking it up might be, but that it actually happens that way is the exception. The fans of Offenbacher Kickers, who unsuccessfully suggested signing up Austrian Daniel Offenbacher (30, NK Domzale/Slovenia) for central midfield, know that too.

Goalkeeper Rene Adler to Eintracht Frankfurt – the name would have fitted wonderfully. But never came about. The eagle carriers have now announced that the main club has expanded its offer to include golf. So far, so unspectacular. If it weren’t for the name of the home club registered with the association: Golfpark Gut Hühnerhof (in Gründau-Lieblos).

OFC fans: In Offenbach, the Eintracht players are called “poultry”

For the fans of the neighboring arch-rival Kickers Offenbach, who like to derogatorily refer to the Frankfurters as “chickens” or “poultry” because of the heraldic animal, this causes great amusement. Of course, the Eintracht golfers will not care where they play an “Eagle” (German: “Adler”, term in golf for two strokes below the target).

“Eintracht Frankfurt has (…) joined the Hessian Golf Association, to which more than 60 clubs and operators as well as more than 50,000 golfers now belong,” the association said in a statement. And further. “The Gut Hühnerhof Golf Park in Gründau-Lieblos, with which a cooperation agreement was concluded in this context, will serve as the home club.” Over the years it has become more and more established as a mass and health sport and is considered less as an elitist sport and more as a sport for everyone. As a colorful and open club, we offer a home to numerous sports and would also like to promote golf in the Rhine-Main area. “Regardless of whether you are a beginner or at an advanced level – golfers of all levels are welcome,” says the message.

Or an “Albatross” (three hits less), or even just a “Birdie” (one hit less). Yes, the game of bouncing a small white ball around with a “stick” or “iron” is sometimes animalistic. Of course, the sentence “They have a bird” is obvious. And that’s not derogatory or amusing at all. On the contrary: the more birds, the better. At least when playing golf. (Christian Düncher)

50 years ago, the fighting and collective spirit of the OFC dominated the individualists of Eintracht Frankfurt.
