Goldfish Problems in Minnesota | ABC News

The state of Minnesota is in despair after several giant goldfish have been picked up by the local lake, Keller Lake.

Burnsville, located about 15 miles[24 km]south of the million-strong city of Minneapolis, has had several problems with goldfish owners releasing their goldfish.

According to the city authorities, the goldfish create chaos for other animal species.

– Please. Do not release their goldfish into ponds and lakes. They grow larger than you think, and contribute to poor water quality, writes the official user of Burnsville on Twitter.

According to The Guardian, the phenomenon has occurred in both Virginia and Washington, and also in Australia and Canada. Photo: City of Burnsville via Twitter

The goldfish dig in the bottom, which helps the mud to be released into the water.

Several large goldfish have been retrieved from Keller Lake recently.

– A couple of goldfish may seem harmless to some, but it is not, says Minnesota’s Department of Nature.

Last year was over 50,000 goldfish removed from a lake in Carver County, Minnesota.

Like carp, goldfish can easily reproduce and survive through the low oxygen levels during the winter in the state.

According to The Guardian The phenomenon has occurred in both Virginia and Washington, and also in Australia and Canada. In 2013, a 42-centimeter goldfish was found in Virginia.
