“You got married on August 14, 1973 in Angevillers where you were born Michelle. André, you are a native of Thionville. You met during Michelle’s brother’s wedding, and André was your date. Cupid that day being part of the party, you got married and lived in Angevillers until 1980, ”recounted Mayor Bernard Veinnant, on the occasion of the golden wedding of the Jalabert spouses.
And to continue: “You came that year to live in Basse-Ham in the house that you had built. From your union were born three children, two girls and a boy who gave you six grandchildren. Michelle, you worked for seventeen years at the Bel-Air hospital as a laboratory technician and you retired in 1989. André, you were an electrician by trade, and you worked until 1989 in the private sector . Then in 1990, you joined the technical services of the municipality until your retirement in 2008. »
The couple is very active in the town. “Michelle, you have been a volunteer at the media library since it opened. You, André, you were one of the pillars of the Clampins de-la-Roue, as well as of the Hamois Animation Committee. You also lend a hand to the Confrérie Saint-Nicolas de Yutz as well as to the Une Rose un Espoir association in Sierck-les-Bains. You enjoy walking and reading, board games and crafts. All these years have strengthened the bond that unites you and make your couple an example for us. You told me you didn’t see the time pass. I note that your couple emanates a feeling of peace, serenity and quiet strength,” concluded the mayor before presenting the customary gifts to the jubilarians.
The mayor gave them an appointment in 10 years for their diamond wedding.
