Golden Microphone’23 Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis and Executive Director of the Association of Latvian Performers and Producers (LaIPA) Liena Edvardsa also took part in the event to announce the nominees.
“We can be pleased that the years of the pandemic, when we were forced to spend more time at home than gathering in public, are behind us. In these years, when we created more than we showed, high-quality artistic works have been created, including recordings that are currently enjoyed by the whole society Congratulations to all Golden Microphone’23 nominees,” emphasizes Culture Minister Nauris Puntulis.
“I am pleased that the Ministry of Culture, in the person of Nauras Puntulis, has been paying additional attention to popular music in recent years,” comments the chairman of the jury, Jānis Žilde. “It is a signal for the entire industry, an important, visible and inclusive gesture that reminds us that popular music is already a part of Latvian culture.”
On the other hand, LaIPA executive director Liena Edwards states that Golden microphone has been known for a long time as a “report” of what happened in the field of popular music in Latvia during the previous year: “The scope of both submitted works and performers is very wide, we are also pleased with the considerable variety of genres and, what is especially important, the quality,” says Golden microphone member of the jury and executive director of LaIPA. “That’s why LaIPA, as the largest organization representing Latvian performers and producers, supports it golden microphone, driving the growth and innovation of the entire industry,” says Liena Edwards.
