Golden Lion’s Friendly Match Victory and Preparations for French Cup 32nd Finals Against LOSC

72 hours before the match counting for the 32nd finals of the French Cup against Lille Olympique Sporting Club (LOSC), the Golden Lion played a friendly match against CS Moulien this Wednesday, January 3. Victory 2 goals to 0 for Guadeloupeans.

The Stéphane Diagana sports complex had West Indian accents during the friendly match played between the two West Indian teams still involved in the French Football Cup. Since their arrival in France, the Joséphins and Mouliens have been accommodated in Lisses in Essonne, they share the same hotel. The leaders and technicians of both camps did not miss the opportunity of this 11 against 11 opposition to move up a notch in preparation.

Two 30-minute periods in relatively “acceptable” weather conditions for the period, but which will deteriorate by the end of the week.

A match to test oneself and take stock of one’s state of form, but also to review the ranges to best represent Martinique on Saturday against LOSC, a club which occupies 5th place in the Ligue 1 championship. The Joséphins know this, the gap is enormous between the Golden Lion and LOSC, but not a single player seems to be preparing for Saturday’s meeting by being defeatist. All opportunities will be seized, this is the message repeated by the technical staff to mobilize the troops and hope.

What everyone agrees on is the state of mind of the Josephin collective, between rigor and concentration, the emphasis is placed on the determination that must be displayed and refused to submit.
For the moment, the Ligue 1 club is not communicating on the starting lineup for Saturday, but on the Josephin side we are preparing as much as possible to avoid regrets.

Since our arrival, things have been going pretty well. This match against CS Moulien is an interesting opposition because even if we played on synthetic, we were able to verify our expectations regarding the game plan prepared for Saturday… We know that it will come down to details, concentration because we are going to face players for whom it is their job to play football every day. What will be important is what we do when we have the ball and above all not confine ourselves to wanting to defend. We are lucky to have a group that knows each other well, it is calm and it is up to us to do what is necessary to keep the squad focused on Saturday.

Representing Saint-Joseph and Martinique well is the ambition of the men of Jean-François Go, the Josephin coach. No problem, the squad should be able to respond to the challenge, but we will undoubtedly have to reckon with harsher weather since the temperatures announced for Lille on Saturday are getting closer to zero and could even go lower.

Johan Noël, the captain and defender of the Golden Lion is banking on group spirit for this meeting.

We had to acclimatize since our arrival, it’s not easy but the accommodation conditions and the collective’s state of mind make preparation easier. The technical staff guides us and we know what to expect. We’re going to give everything, have as much fun as possible and face this team that is competing in the Europa League, it’s up to us to give our all. There will certainly be a little apprehension but we must give everything to avoid regrets and also carry the colors of the club and Martinique to the highest level.

Thursday January 4, the Golden Lion heads to Lille. The technical staff has planned two training sessions on site before entering the pitch of the Pierre-Mauroy stadium on Saturday January 6 to challenge the 5th in Ligue 1.

The gap is colossal, but the Joséphins do not want to leave with defeat in mind, a football match is never decided in advance. The Joséphins should be able to count on a part of the public acquired by Petit Thumb, during the test match against CS Moulien, around fifty Joséphins supporters braved the cold to support the club.

LOSC / Golden-Lion, a match to follow on the three platforms of Martinique la 1ere, next Saturday January 6, broadcast at 10:20 a.m. (Martinique time).
