A very special cup poster was on the program in France on Saturday evening: Lille OSC – Golden Lion. The latter club comes from the French overseas department of Martinique. The outward journey that players and staff had to make was no less than 6,932 kilometers.

Golden Lion plays its matches in the city of Saint Joseph. The club became champion of Martinique four times before. Immediately after the draw, they could look forward to a wonderful adventure. Lille had to be defeated to reach the sixteenth final of the Coupe de France. It did not work. It was a huge disappointment for the visitors.
After half an hour of play it was already 7-0 for Lille. Jonathan David and Yusuf Yazici found the net twice, while winger Edon Zhegrova scored a hat-trick before the tea break. In the second half Lille pushed further. The final score was 12 – 0, partly thanks to David, who also scored a hat trick.

The visitors from Martinique eventually managed one meager goal attempt. The immense return journey of another 6,932 kilometers offers trainer Jean-François Go at least enough time to evaluate the race.
