The Golden Globes 2024 celebrated their 81st award ceremony tonight with the aim of closing one cycle and starting another.
Following an investigation by the LA Times in which it was revealed in 2021 that the awards’ parent organization, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), lacked diversity among its ranks by not having black members, in addition to engaging in ethical practices and questionable finances, the organization was dissolved and the program was acquired by billionaire Todd Boehly’s private company, a private equity firm, and Penske Media, publisher of Variety and Hollywood Reporter.

After this turn and in search of a restructuring that focused on diversifying voters, expanding the audience and making it lucrative, the Golden Globes returned to the screen tonight in an edition broadcast by the CBS network that acquired the rights and Paramount +.
The ceremony was held as usual at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills with the hosting debut of comedian Jo Koy, known for his stand-up work on Comedy Central and Netflix.
