New Delhi: Indian cinema made history at the world famous Golden Globe Awards. “Natu Natu” from SS Rajamouli’s film RRR won the 2023 Golden Globe Award for Best Song. Famous music composer MM Keeravani composed the song starting from Natu Natu in RRR. RRR’s song beat Taylor Swift’s Carolina from Where the Crawdads Sing, Ciao Papa from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick and Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The Golden Globe arrives in India after fourteen years. AR Rahman had already won the award in 2009.
Ki Hui Hwan won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film Everything Everywhere All At Once. Best Supporting Actress is Angela Bassett. Angela deserved the award for her performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
RRR was represented at the Golden Globes by SS Rajamouli, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan and his wife Upasana Kamineni. Set in British-occupied India in the 1920s, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan star as freedom fighters Kumaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharamaraju. Also in the film are Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan and British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.
RRR has raised over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide and has won numerous international awards including Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle. RRR has been submitted for Academy Award nominations in various categories.
