As with the Emmy Awards, the ceremony was held at a distance. Golden Globes 2021 on the night of Sunday February 28 to Monday March 1, French time. Each star received their award from their living room. If some have made a sartorial effort, it is less the case of other celebrities such as Jason Sudeikis who received the prize for best actor in a comedy series for Ted Lasso… in a sweatshirt. Class!
The Crown and The Lady’s Game playoff side winners
Even four seasons after his debut, The Crown always shines! The Netflix series had 6 nominations in total and won 4 awards (several actors were nominated in the same categories) namely: best drama series, best actress and best actor in a drama series for Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor who play Diana Spencer and Prince Charles but also best actress in a supporting role for Gillian Anderson. Other series that are essential? Schitt’s Creek with the prizes for best comic series which therefore escapes Emily in Paris (phew!) and best actress in a comedy series. Anya Taylor-Joy and The Lady’s Game dominate the mini-series category.
Nomadland and Chloé Zhao win, Chadwick Boseman awarded posthumously
On the cinema side, these are Nomadland and its director Chloé Zhao who take one step closer to the Oscars by winning the awards for best dramatic film and best director (3 women were nominated out of 5). Chadwick Boseman was awarded posthumously for his role in Ma Rainey’s blues (available on Netflix which is his latest film) for Best Actor in a Drama Film. Finally, we can also highlight the victories of Borat 2 and Sacha Baron Cohen in the comedy or musical film category.
