Music director MM Keeravani, who conquered South India with touching melodies, was awarded the Golden Globe. The song “Natunatu” from “RRR” composed by SS Rajamouli came first in the “Original Song” category competing with the works of world famous musicians.
It was a proud moment for the Indian film music industry when Keeravani received the award at the 80th Golden Globe in Los Angeles which was packed with Hollywood stars. He accepted the award thanking the film crew including Rajamouli. The lyrics of the Telugu song sung by Kalabhairava and Rahul Sipligunj are written by Chandra Bose. The song has also been released in languages including Malayalam.
This is the first time that a song from an Indian film has won this award. AR Rahman won a Golden Globe for the British film Slumdog Millionaire (2008). “Argentina 1985” won the award, though RRR was also shortlisted for Best Film in the non-English category.
MM Keeravani aka Koduri Marakatamani Keeravani was born in Kovvur, Andhra Pradesh. More than two hundred songs in languages like Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi have been prepared. Baahubali’s songs are remarkable. Songs from Malayalam movies like Suryamanasam, Nilgiri and Devaragam are very popular.
