The modus operandi was always the same
The judicial police have identified, since the beginning of the year, eighteen thefts listed “for vehicles amounting to tens of thousands of euros for resale”. “The numerous surveillance operations carried out as well as the elements provided by certain victims when they filed a complaint have led the judicial police to identify a team of criminals from Dijon who may be at the origin of these vehicle thefts committed most of the time on the road. public, in front of the home of their owner ”, it is added in the press release. The procedure was always the same, the criminals obviously had a box to successfully start the car without keys.
“On October 26, a new surveillance carried out by investigators from the judicial police suggested that four of these recently stolen vehicles were about to be transported together by road to an unknown destination. “That same day,” a device was put in place which made it possible to proceed, near a hangar, located in the town of Pont-d’Ouche, to the arrest of three men preparing to load three vehicles in a container truck arrived specially on site ”. On the same day, a fourth individual in connection with this affair was arrested in Dijon. The Dijon judicial police specify that these vehicles have been stolen since September 19 in the municipalities of Talant, Messigny-et-Vantoux and Dijon.
At the end of the investigations, two Dijonnais, aged 43 and 35, were presented Thursday to the prosecution of the court of Dijon. One of them was imprisoned in the wake. The investigation also made it possible to show that the vehicles were stolen to be resold in Africa.
