He was for them a son, a companion, a brother, a father, a childhood friend… The relatives of Emmanuel Breuil, known as “Doudou”, are keen to pay tribute to him, a few days after his sudden disappearance on Wednesday , in his car garage in Thorey-en-Plaine. “It was undoubtedly his destiny, to go to a place he loved so much,” says Florence Pelletier, still upset to have discovered her lifeless childhood friend, Wednesday afternoon, when visiting him.
Self-employed from the age of 24
From an early age, Emmanuel Breuil was passionate about mechanics. “When he left vocational high school, he was hired by the Bourbon garage in Genlis, a period which confirmed his love of the profession,” says his family. At only 24, he started out on his own and settled in Thorey-en-Plaine, a village that saw him grow up and to which he was very attached.
After his workshop and his house burned down in 1999, he moved into the premises, made available by his brother Jean-Philippe, whom he still occupied, on the road to Dijon. “Of course, this makeshift garage at the entrance to the village was visually cluttered. Moreover, Emmanuel was not always supported and some […] wanted to see him leave the town ”, regret his relatives. “But our Doudou was doing a service to so many of us […]. He didn’t know how to say no and always wanted to arrange everyone, so as not to disappoint anyone. “
“He worked all the time”
“Helpful, devoted, hardworking and passionate” is how those who knew Emmanuel Breuil describe him. “His garage was his whole life. He only took a fortnight’s vacation a year. He worked all the time, on weekends, on public holidays, ”say his relatives. “In the evening, he would come home to eat around 7:30 pm, 8 pm and then returned to his garage, sometimes until 11 pm,” adds his partner, Florence.
Attached to his family
Emmanuel Breuil, although “very secretive and not very expressive”, was also very attached to his family. Starting with his mother, who lives not far from the garage and with whom he came to drink coffee every day, but also his brother and his four sisters, his son Florian, “of whom he was very proud”, as well as his nephews and nieces. . Relatives who all say they are “devastated” today by the sudden disappearance of their “Doudou”, at the age of 59 years.
Emmanuel Breuil’s funeral will take place on Tuesday March 9, at 10:30 a.m., in the church of Rouvres-en-Plaine.
