Golden Coast. A painting by Yan Pei-Ming at auction on Sunday in Dijon

Following his training at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, and various teaching positions, Pierre-Noël Drain was director of the National School of Fine Arts (Enba) in Dijon between 1974 and 1990. Between 1985 and 1990 , he became interested in the issue of art education by working, among others, for the Ministry of National Education and that of Culture and Communication.

During his Parisian life, he was lucky enough to rub shoulders with Anna Zborowska, then widow of the famous modern art dealer Léopold Zborowski and muse of Amedeo Modigliani. Yan Pei-Ming, who was studying at Enba, then directed by Drain, offered the latter a canvas in 1986, which will be put up for sale on Sunday in Dijon. The Sino-Dijon artist could still admire it in the lair of Pierre-Noël Drain in Jambles (Saône-et-Loire), the place of his retirement dedicated to the collection and restoration of works.

This “Tribute to Pierre-Noël Drain” auction illustrates his entire professional and artistic career, since it will also present part of his studio collection, with works ranging from figuration to abstraction (drawings, collages, canvases, resins).

The sale on Sunday April 3 at noon will be preceded by an exhibition and a moment of conviviality and memories, Saturday April 2 at 5 p.m. at the Dijon auction house. Information: 06.64. 37. 60. 70, [email protected]
