Golden Boy: list reduced to 20 names with three Portuguese

The list of candidates for the Golden Boy Award, from the Italian newspaper All Sportwhich distinguishes the best under-21 footballer in the world, reduced this Friday from 40 to 20 names.

With the reduction of the candidates, two of the four Portuguese who were in the list of 40 names: Henrique Araújo (Benfica) and Fábio Silva (Anderlecht). However, despite the cast reduction by half, there was a new Portuguese name to enter this list.

Benfica defender António Silva joined the group of two dozen young players, joining Nuno Mendes (PSG) and Fábio Carvalho (Liverpool).

The award, won last year by the Spanish Pedri, has already been awarded to two Portuguese: Renato Sanches in 2016 and João Félix in 2019.

The winner is known on November 7th.
