Goldband had barely started its opening set on the Main Stage of Rock Werchter when things went wrong: singer Boaz Kok broke his ankle when he jumped off the stage – coincidentally just during the appropriate song ‘Emergency’.

“This is an emergency” has never sounded more appropriate than today. After Goldband member Boaz Kok jumped all too overconfidently from the stage and badly injured his ankle, he had to balance on one leg the lyrics of that hit: ‘I can hardly stand on my legs, but I’m still alive, I don’t appoint me.’
Kok did not in any way appoint himself. His ankle was taped while singing and then he sat down on a stool. The set never stopped for a second, and was ultimately good for four stars from our reviewer† The annoying diagnosis afterwards: he broke his heel bone during his jump. That means ten weeks of plaster and wheelchair. The group will play the upcoming gigs as planned.
