Debut at 28: a Goldacher joined the Swiss national football team in five years
28-year-old Goldacher Sascha Knobel of the St. Gallen Bears made his debut in the Swiss national team. The next match is already scheduled for the weekend in Serbia.
Those are exciting days that Sascha Knobel is experiencing. The 28-year-old from Goldach, who normally plays American football on the offensive line of the St. Gallen Bears, played his first international match for the Swiss national team last Sunday. His steep ascent – he only started with the sport five years ago – was crowned for the first time. Knobel, who now lives in Rorschacherberg and works as an auto mechanic, has been included for his outstanding performances with the St. Gallen Bears in recent seasons. And this despite the fact that St. Gallen are at home only in the second highest league in Switzerland. With the Bears, Knobel missed promotion to the top flight only after the NLB championship title in the relegation match.
