Gold on the global stock market

Gold succeeded in crossing the $2,000 barrier to record an increase for the third week in a row in light of the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which increased the demand for safe havens, while investors await the US Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for this week.

Spot gold prices rose last week by 1.3%, recording an increase for the third week in a row, with gold closing the week’s trading at $2,006 per ounce, after recording its highest level yesterday, Friday, at $2,009 per ounce, which is the highest level since mid-May.

According to Gold Billion’s monitoring of gold movement, since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, gold has achieved an increase of $174, a 9.5% increase, to breach the psychological level of $2,000 per ounce, despite the negative pressures resulting from improved US data and expectations of continued monetary tightening.

The escalation of events in the war in the Gaza Strip with the violent bombing of the Strip and the beginning of ground operations, caused an increase in fears in the markets, increasing the demand for safe havens, and thus gold prices rose significantly during yesterday’s session by 1% to gain $22.

The rise in gold prices above the $2,000 level comes despite significant overbought in gold, but the strong support that the precious metal received from strong safe-haven demand helped gold’s continued rise.
