Gold prices continued their rise today, Thursday, to record the highest level in two weeks, in light of the decline in the dollar and US Treasury bond yields before the release of inflation data today, which may help the markets in drawing a picture of the future of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy during its next meeting.

Spot gold prices rose today by 0.4%, trading at the time of writing the Gold Billion technical report at the level of 1881, after recording the highest level in two weeks at $1882 per ounce. Since the beginning of the week, gold has risen by 2.7%, earning $48 per ounce.

Yesterday, the minutes of the Federal Reserve meeting were released, which confirmed the statements made by Fed members this week. The minutes of the meeting indicated that the growing uncertainty about the path of the US economy pushed policymakers to a cautious stance during the meeting last month.

Several Bank members showed that although economic activity has been resilient and the labor market remains strong, there remain downside risks to economic activity and upside risks to the unemployment rate.

Although the Fed is nearing the end of its tightening cycle, meeting minutes showed that the committee continues to support higher interest rates until it is confident that inflation is falling to the 2% target.
