“This year the situation is exceptional and important,” said Nabil Djaafer, director of the cabinet of SNCF travellers in Burgundy-Franche-Comté.
“In 2022 in the region we experienced more than 210 shocks against animals (especially wild boars and cows) or against trees. [Cela représente] 42 aftershocks in November and 41 in December. This is 27% more than in 2021, which already had 30% more than in 2020. This causes many delays and trains are cancelled. »
“The situation paralyzes 10% of our railway fleet”
Why ? “A shock is on average 5 to 6 days of immobilisation in our maintenance centers (Besançon, Dijon, Nevers). »
According to Nabil Djaafer, the situation “cripples 10% of our fleet of trains in the region” which are under maintenance. To deal with this, from Monday 2 January until Friday 13 January, the transport plan in Burgundy-Franche-Comté has been adapted.
