The band Goldband from The Hague will continue to perform during the summer months. The fact that the leg of singer Boaz Kok is in plaster after a jump from the stage at Rock Werchter does not stop the group. Kok emphasized this on Tuesday in the NPO Radio 1 program The News BV.
“We’re just going to play,” said Kok. “At Down The Rabbit Hole last Sunday I got a knee kick. But there are so many options: crutches, wheelchairs, crutches. We’re just going to play.”
Even during the incident itself, Kok continued to sing despite the pain. “I did notice that something was wrong,” the singer recalls. “But I thought: I’ll just keep going. There are people listening who expect something from this performance.”
Only after the concert was over, the frontman from The Hague felt the pain. “Under the circumstances, things are going well,” he adds. “I’m lying with my leg up, the weather is nice and I’m having a nice coffee. My girlfriend takes very good care of me.”
Kok suffered a fracture when he jumped off the stage at the Belgian festival. He did that during the appropriate song Emergency and landed several meters lower on the ground. Kok was cared for on stage for some time while he continued to sing while lying on his back.
