Lotte Kopecky has fully lived up to her status as top favorite in the points race at the World Cycling Championships in Glasgow, Scotland and takes gold in the points race.
The 27-year-old took gold after 100 laps (25 kilometers) and ten sprints with 39 points, eight more than Australia’s Georgia Baker and 25 more than Japan’s Tsuyaka Uchino. The British Neah Evans, the outgoing world champion in the points race, seemed to have a view of the bronze for a long time, but eventually had to be satisfied with a fifth place (9 points).
On Sunday, Kopecky closed her first race on the cycling track with gold in the elimination race, thus securing the first Belgian world title at this Super World Cup. Kopecky took the world title in the points race in 2021 and the European title in 2022.
