Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Tokopedia mega merger is not a mere issue. The latest Gojek news has announced to employees about the corporate action of a merger with Tokopedia.
This information was obtained by CNBC Indonesia from three sources who knew about this plan but did not want to be identified because it was considered a sensitive issue, Friday (9/4/2021).
“Gojek Tokopedia is officially merged. It has been announced in their internal Townhall meeting,” said one source.
When confirmed, Chief Corporate Affairs Gojek said he could not comment at this time.
“We understand that there is a lot of discussion circulating on this issue, but we are unable to comment at this time. If there is information that can be conveyed regarding the company’s actions, we will inform our media friends and stakeholders as soon as possible,” he said.
“Unfortunately we have nothing to say at this time. If there is a corporate action, we will definitely convey it to the public,” said Nuraini Razak, VP of Corporate Communications, Tokopedia.
Meanwhile, the Reuters news agency wrote that Gojek and Tokopedia are now seeking approval from shareholders for the proposed merger, citing sources.
The previous deal would result in a merger worth US $ 18 billion and become the largest in Indonesia, said another source.
