Going to the supermarket on New Year’s Day? You can do that in few places in Friesland

A supermarket is open on New Year’s Day in half of the Frisian municipalities. This is evident from figures from Openingstijden.nl. Most are open in Smallingerland.

Especially in Drachten you have the big gritters to choose from. The Albert Heijn and Dirk van den Broek, among others, are open there.

Data collection agency LocalFocus collected the data via Openingstijden.nl, writes Nu.nl . Nationally, the fewest supermarkets are open in Friesland and the most in North Holland, with Amsterdam (93 percent) being the absolute peak.

On the Wadden Islands and in Dantumadiel, Tytsjerksteradiel, Achtkarspelen, De Fryske Marren and Ooststellingwerf you are standing in front of a closed door if you want to do an errand quickly.

In Leeuwarden, only the Albert Heijn To Go on Stationsplein is open. In Harlingen almost all supermarkets are open, except the Poiesz.
