The former US president has asked a federal judge in Florida to force Twitter to restore his account. It writes the news agency AP.
His lawyers filed a lawsuit in Miami District Court on Friday, claiming that Twitter was censoring Trump in violation of his rights.
Twitter will not comment on the case.
89 million followers
The platform banned Trump a few days after some of his followers stormed the congress in Washington DC, where the goal was to prevent Joe Biden from being approved as the country’s new president.
Shortly before, Trump held A speech, in which he reiterated the claim that the election had been stolen from him. A police officer lost his life during the storm, and Twitter was concerned that Trump would encourage further violence.
Prior to the ban, he had 89 million followers on the platform.
Suspended in several places
Facebook and Youtube have also suspended the former president due to similar concerns.
In July, Trump sued all three technology companies and their CEOs. He claimed that he and other conservative politicians had been wrongly censored.
