“At this moment there is already a debt of more than 52 million dollars that has to do with the acquisition of goods and services and that limits the normal development of the university and, therefore, we have led to the suspension of some programs” Quintanilla commented at a press conference.
Among the programs that have been suspended are teaching assistants, funding for research projects has been limited; The “online and distance university” program does not have the financing required for its operation. Also, the “Young Talents” program, which is an effort that is developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, “at this time we do not have the possibility of having the resources for it to be developed efficiently,” Quintanilla listed.
Juan Rosa Quintanilla reported that in terms of the debt that the university has with suppliers, it is estimated that there is approximately $19 million and the rest that has not been assigned has to do with commitments that are related to the strengthening of the plant. teaching, that is, the continuous training of teachers, as well as the development of scientific research that limits the university’s ability to work on projects of national interest.
