The Catalan Dragon Goddesses welcome the French champions of Lescure this Sunday (1.00pm) in Saint-Estève. The blood and gold leaders brought forward the time of the match counting for the third day to avoid being in competition with the final of the soccer World Cup. Lescure won their first three games, starting 30-4 against the Catalans, before beating Toulouse 24-8 and Bègles 70-4 two weeks ago. Antony Pineau’s and Victoria Bobo’s Catalans started their season at home with a convincing 58-4 success, against understated Toulouse. A victory to put into perspective for blood and gold that we will always do without, Mélanie Bianchini, Zoé Pastre-Courtine, Maylis Borak, while Élisa Akpa will be absent.
Faced with what is best at this level, the Catalans will find their prostitute Fanny Ramos, but also Élodie Pacull. Two important comebacks for a group that needs points of reference and is in a hurry to compete with Elisa Ciria’s gang. The playmaker from Lescure, leader of France at the World Cup, will once again be victorious in Saint-Estève. “We will know where we are and what we have to work on to evolve, but the youngsters have worked very well for two months and I hope they will be rewarded”, concludes coach Pineau.
