God of War Ragnarok is the second and last part of the Scandinavian game. After the events of the first, Kratos and Atreus must travel across the nine realms to find a way to prevent Ragnarok, the end of the world predicted in Norse mythology. In addition to familiar God of War 2018 characters such as Mimir and Freya, players will also encounter other gods such as the thunder god Thor and all-father Odin.

Notably, Odin was voiced by star of the series “The West Wing” Richard Schiff. In an interview, Williams said that he and his team wanted the Norse god to be similar to Schiff’s character Toby Ziegler, so they reached out to him. Schiff, who is said to be indifferent to video games, asked his son Gus what God of War was when he got the call. Gus told him to just say yes, and later gave him a two-page summary of the 2018 God of War game to help him understand it better. The next day, Schiff accepted the role after meeting with Williams and visiting his office.

Williams called it a “wild moment” because he didn’t expect to be working with a Hollywood actor for God of War Ragnarok. He revealed that on the first day of shooting, the crew were equally surprised to see Schiff voice Odin. The director was grateful to Gus for convincing his father to join the cast.

God of War Ragnarok features an impressive ensemble of voice actors. Reprising their roles were Christopher Judge as Kratos and Sunny Suljic as Atreus, whose dynamic captured the hearts of players already in the first game. As for Schiff’s performance as Odin, without spoilers, gamers praised him on social media for his “incredible” performance, noting that he should play video games more often.
