The message states that “it’s clear when it’s clear”, and although Barlog’s message does not specifically mention God of War: Ragnarök, it seems likely that this is the game he is aiming for. The game still has a fairly wide launch window in 2021, but there are rumors that it may be delayed. This Twitter message did not provide much clarity. But, as Barlog says, “Trust that it’s best for all parties.”
Also coming to PS4 PlayStation Studios boss Herman Hulst seems to have confirmed that God of War is coming to PS4. After being asked how the PS4 affects PlayStation Studios’ vision, Hulst said in a PlayStation Blog posts that «it seems sensible to develop a game for both PS4 and PS5. To Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7… we continue to look at it. And if someone with a PS4 wants to play that game, they will have the opportunity to do so. If they’d rather play the PS5 version, they can too. “
Earlier it was said that God of War: Ragnarök would only be available for PS5.
PS5 Showcase We got to see a brief hint about God of War: Ragnarök towards the end of the PS5 Showcase event on September 16, 2020, where Sony also announced the price and launch date for its next PlayStation console, PS5.
Cory Barlog also changed his gtwitter headline to an edited text in Latin, and the Twitter avatar to a picture of ice. It suggests that we are moving north, into a colder climate…
Job advertisements It was GamesRadar who discovered that SIE Santa Monica Studio went out with job advertisements for a variety of roles in programming, design and technological design, and one of the ads was clearly on the link to a new version of God of War.
The ad tll Senior Combat Designer reads: “Must have knowledge of God of War (2018) and be able to talk in detail about the combat systems, mechanics and enemies.”
A job advertisement for Facial Blend Shape Character Artist also specifically mentions the “next generation gaming platform experience” in connection with the role: which could reduce the potential number of applicants to relatively few animators, given that the next generation consoles have not yet been launched.
However, the ad was a little more vague when it came to role as Senior Gameplay Animator , where you are looking for someone who can «help push the boundaries of action and combat movements and increase the level of the gaming experience on PS4».
God of War PS4-tema In April 2019, a new dynamic theme appeared on PS4 to celebrate the one-year anniversary of God of War. The theme showed Kratos and Atreus rowing, but contained a secret message (discovered by observers God of War fans on Reddit ).
The boat the couple is sitting in has runes engraved on the side. These can be translated to “Ragnarok is coming” – which we now know is an official slogan for the game.
Ingen God of War DLC God of War director Corey Barlog has said that there were originally plans for DLS content for the new release from 2018, but that it turned out to be “too ambitious”. This means that the studio can rather set aside resources for a completely new game instead of creating additional content after the launch.
God of War (2018) PS5 update To make the wait for God of War: Ragnarök a little easier, Sony Santa MOnica has released a God of War PS5 update that increases the game’s resolution to an impressive 4K, while maintaining the target of 60 fps. We hope this means that Ragnarök will continue the nice trend with more PS5 games at 60 fps, although it involves some compromises such as losing some of the resolution to get up there.

(Warning: spoilers of the God of War ending follow)
Clearer exploration of the end At the end of God of War, we learn that Kratos’ wife (and mother of Atreus) Faye was actually a giant named Laufey. This means that Atreus is half god and half giant and also has a completely different name: Loki. In other words, Loki, the deceiver of Nordic mythology.
We hope that God of War: Ragnarök will explore this thoroughly, and that we will learn more about Faye’s secret story and why she kept everything secret at all. We also hope that Atreus will take on the shape-shifting qualities that Loki is known for, instead of just standing on the edge and shooting arrows at enemies.
Atreus is not a little boy anymore God of War can continue directly from the events of the previous game, but we think it would be more interesting to see how an Atreus in his teens and his grumpy from Kratos work together on adventures.
