Cory Barlog and his team will leave the Norse setting behind after God of War Ragnarok. In an interview, Barlog explains why they will leave it at two games.
Cory Barlog was the director of the 2018 God of War (soft) reboot and is now less involved in the development of Ragnarok. Still, the studio already had a vision for the Norwegian saga, which will also come to an end after the sequel.
In a conversation with Captain Cuba Barlog admits that there were “multiple reasons” for bringing the story to a close. First, it takes an awful lot of time to make games of this range. It took the team five years to develop God of War and Ragnarok is also an incredibly time-consuming job.
In addition, the team does not want to stretch the saga too long. If they were to make a third part, the team would have been working on Norse mythology for 15 years and Barlog thinks that is simply too long.
The director compares the Norse mythology with The Lord of the Rings, which, according to him, shows everything that is needed with 13 hours. Are you already looking forward to Ragnarok? Let us know in the comments!
