“God” by Ferdinand von Schirach

This summer theater performances by the Calluna-Bühne group in Schneverdingen will once again be at a special venue: On Saturday 10 August, the members of the ensemble will perform at the “Sommertheater am Turm” at the address Am Kirchhof in the Heideblütenstadt at 7:30 pm the play “God” by Ferdinand von Schirach.

After the premiere, other shows will follow – on Sunday, August 11, at 4 pm, Saturday August 17, at 7:30 pm and finally on Sunday, August 18, at 4 pm (Dernière). Tickets are available at the famous ticket offices. Tickets cost 15 euros in advance and an additional three euros at the box office.

The play “Dia” is an educational play by the famous author and lawyer Ferdinand von Schirach on the subject of euthanasia. It is structured as a discussion before fictional ethics advice, before questions such as “Who owns our lives?” or “Who will decide our death?” Is it ethically reasonable for a perfectly healthy person to want to end their life? And you asked for help? For this purpose, the different opinions are exchanged and the opinions of experts are heard, for example on the relevant legal situation in Germany, the opinion of doctors and the church.

The piece encourages discussions far beyond the main topic and skillfully contributes to developing your own ideas. Directed by Kathrin Hoppe, there are very exciting theater nights to come. Ferdinand von Schirach is a lawyer who specializes in criminal law and has already dealt with a large number of legal topics in a generally understandable and compelling manner. Besides “God,” especially “Terror” and “The Collini Case,” which were also made into movies. By the way: From the beginning of 2024, the Calluna stage is no longer an independent theater club, but is now part of the cultural society. With roots dating back to 1964, she brings with her a wealth of theater experience. She recently performed “The Jungle Book” as a festival play for the Heath Blossom Festival in 2023. She was active on stage at the tower for the first time in 2017 with “MacHeath – Between Petticoat and Galgenstrick ”, a farce by Ingo Sax based on John Gay, and also in 2019 with the moving piece “Westkurve” and with “The House in Montevideo”.

The members of the Calluna-Bühne group regularly present full-length films and short plays, dramas and comedies – and all this sometimes in standard German and sometimes “up Platt”. She also runs her own youth group.
