This week, in Goals for Historythe protagonist is Raúl. The striker, one of the great legends of our club, stood out for his goals and his commitment. He joined the first team in 1994 after having shone at the academy, before ending his career as a madridista in 2010. He is the player with the most appearances in the history of Real Madrid and the third top scorer.
During the 1998/99 season, Real Madrid went to Athletic for the fourth day of La Liga. On the purpose in question, Seedorf filters a pass behind the defense towards Raúl who, without letting the ball fall, continues with a one-touch shot that lodges next to the goalkeeper’s right upright. Real Madrid eventually won the game 2-3 thanks to goals from Raúl, Mijatovic et Savio.
Raúl wore the Real Madrid jersey for 16 seasons, for a total of 741 games played and 323 goals scored. His career was littered with success. He lifted 16 titles, many of them as captain: 3 European Cups, 2 Intercontinental Cups, 1 European Super Cup, 6 Liga and 4 Spanish Super Cups.
