Goals are often broken, why doesn’t Milan buy a goalkeeper?

Jakarta

AC Milan didn’t recruit a new goalkeeper last January even though his goals have been the target of several times. Stefano Pioli explain why.

Milan have lost their main goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, since last September due to a calf injury. Ciprian Tatarusanu then won the trust to guard Milan’s goal during Maignan’s absence.

Along with Milan’s recent negative run, their back line is also very fragile. Milan’s goal conceded 18 times in the last seven matches.

Tatarusanu’s performance under Milan’s crossbar was also in the spotlight. So far, the Romanian goalkeeper has only kept two clean sheets and conceded 22 goals in 14 appearances in Serie A.

However, Milan did not bring in a new goalkeeper in the winter transfer market. Pioli said that Milan still believes in Tatarusanu and is looking forward to Maignan’s return.

“The choice is in my hands and the technical part,” said Pioli when asked about the reasons for not buying a goalkeeper, as reported by Football Italia.

“We believe in Tatarusanu and we think Maignan will be back soon.”

Pioli also provided the latest news about Maignan’s condition. It was estimated that he would be absent for a month, Maignan has yet to return to playing.

“Maignan’s recovery is going well, he’s back on the pitch even though he’s not with the team, his injury is improving. I don’t know when he’ll be back,” said Pioli.
