On the night of May 15, the second leg of the 1/2 finals of the playoffs of the Liga de Expension (Mexico championship) between the Celaya and Atlético Morelia clubs took place.
The first match ended with a score of 1:1, so the winner was determined in the second meeting. The game was won by guests from Morelia – 3:1.
In the 90+2nd minute, with the score 1:2 in favor of Atlético, the Celai players tried to recoup and one of the last moments, or rather, a free-kick, their goalkeeper joined in. It was the hosts’ goalkeeper who struck the header after the cross, but the blow was right in the center of the goal, so the hosts’ keeper Santiago Ramirez firmly secured the ball.
He immediately took advantage of the fact that the opponents’ gates were empty and struck a blow, after which the ball hit right on target. Thanks to this goal, Atletico Morelia, 4 minutes before the end of the match, broke away from Celai by 2 goals on aggregate, which already guaranteed the team participation in the final.
Interestingly, the chief referee of the match removed five players in 90+6 minutes: two from the hosts and three from the guests.
In the match for the Mexican title, Atlético Morelia will play against Tapatio.
