Goalkeeper leaves NHL – returns home to SHL: “Feels unbelievable”

In the 2016–17 season, Marcus Högberg stood on his head in the Linköping box office and was then rewarded with an NHL contract by the Ottawa Senators, where he also ended the spring of 2017 with games in the AHL.

Since then, Högberg has remained in Ottawa’s organization and been listed for 42 NHL games, 14 of which last season.

But now the time in the Canadian capital is over.

On Thursday afternoon, Linköping announced that they had attracted the goalkeeper, who turns 27 in November.

That with a contract that extends over the next four seasons.

– I thought for a very long time about what was best for my development and that opportunity was here in Linköping. I want to take the next step in my development and contribute with everything I have learned over there, a calm and safe game, he says to the club’s website.
