Goalkeeper Gudlevsky continues his career at the Swedish hockey club «Brynas» IF / Article

A contract with the 29-year-old Latvian goalkeeper has been signed until the end of the season. Gudlevsky will be assigned the second goalkeeper on the team after Vein Vehvileinen, but he could make his debut in SHL on January 6.

“Brynas IF” takes 11th place in the tournament table with 39 points in 30 games. Two columns above are “Orebro”, represented by striker Rodrio Ābols, and Vēkša’s “Lakers”, represented by goalkeeper Jānis Kalniņš, is in fifth place.

Defender Rodrigo Laviņš also spent two seasons in the Jēvle team. Brynas IF is the thirteen-time Swedish champion, having won the last title ten years ago.

Prior to that, Gudlevsky played for the Slovakian team “Bratislava” in Bratislava, which he left this week by mutual agreement.

Gudlevsky joined Slovan in February and played seven matches in the regular season last season, averaging 91.4% of the throws, and four games in the playoffs. This season, the Latvian goalkeeper has played 17 games, in which he averaged 2.52 reels and repelled 90.9% of opponents’ shots.

In the 2019/2020 season, Gudlevsky played mostly in the German Premier League (DEL), but at the start of the same season, he won three matches in nine matches in the Riga Hockey League (KHL), averaging 3.45 puck and beating 86 , 3% litter. The season before, he returned from North America, averaging 2.37 rebounds in 31 KHL games and repelling 91.0%.

Back in 2013, after the successful World Cup in the National Hockey League (NHL) draft with the total number 124, Gudlevsky was chosen by Tampa “Lightning”. That year, he began his career in North America and also made his debut in the world’s strongest hockey league. In total, Gudlevsky has played in three NHL Regular Championship games and two Stanley Cup matches.

The Latvian started the 2013/2014 season on the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) team in Florida’s “Everblades”, but soon received a call to the “Lightning” farm club in the American Hockey League (AHL) in Syracuse “Crunch”, where he spent most of the season. In February 2014, the goalkeeper defended Latvia’s honor at the Sochi Olympics, but at the end of the season made his debut as a member of “Lightning”. Thus, Gudlevsky became the first player in history to play in the NHL, AHL, ECHL and Olympics in one season.

True, in the four years he spent in the Lightning system, Gudlevsky played mostly for the Crunch team.

Before the 2017/2018 season, Gudlevsky signed a contract with another NHL unit, the Islanders of New York, but he spent the entire season on the AHL’s Sound Tigers in Bridgeport.

Gudļevskis has represented the Latvian U-18, U-20 and adult national teams at the World Championships and the Sochi Olympic Games.
