The surprise in the Oberliga Nord was the victory of the Crocodiles in Tilburg. The Tilburg team fell below the 2.00 point mark and they are now level on points with the Halle Bulls, who narrowly prevailed against the Hanover Indians in the second encounter in a row.
The Indian continues in fourth place, who are now 0.24 points behind the Bulls and will have to fight off the Herner and Hamburg attacks in the near future. Leipzig (1.52) now has to be careful that the Erfurt (1.42) do not come too close and behind, at ninth place, the Diezer, Herford, Krefeld and Rostock are involved.
EG Diez-Limburg – Herford EV 3: 7 (1: 2, 1: 0, 1: 5)
At the moment the strongest impression of the climbers is made by the Herford. This was clearly shown in the match in Diez-Limburg, where they literally shot the Diezer out of their skates in the last third after a 2-2 intermediate result. The start of the hosts was definitely worth seeing, even if the team fell 2-0 down. Matyas Kovacs (12th) scored to 1-0 and EGDL regular goalkeeper Jan Guryca injured himself during the action and his backup Louis Busch had to guard the gate from now on. When the recovered Marius Garten (17th) increased to 2-0, the game already seemed to have been decided, but two seconds before the end of the third Kevin Lavallee shortened to 1: 2. The second third was a fight for every inch of ice and this went to the Diezer, who were able to equalize in the 32nd minute through Thomas Matheson. In the last third, the Diezer tried to bag the three, but were countered ice cold. Sebastian Christmann (47th) in the majority and Björn Bombis (53rd) scored 3: 2 and 4: 2 for the guests. When Naud had to go to the penalty box for Herford, Thomas Matheson (54th) cut it to 3: 4. Hardly even again in terms of personnel, the Herford riflemen focused their sights. Marius Garten (55th), Ralf Rinke (57th) and Jörn Weikamp (60th) increased to a previously unexpected 7: 3 for the HEV.
Rostock Piranhas – Herner EV 1: 7 (0: 0, 1: 1, 0: 6)
According to the result, that was a strange game. After the first third, which was completely even, it was 0-0 and after 40 minutes only 1: 1. Patrick Asselin gave the guests the lead (32nd), Jayden Schubert (34th) equalized. In the last third, Colton Kehler (43.) met Herner’s lead again, which Denis Fominych (48.) expanded to 3: 1. When Mike Schmitz from Herne allowed himself a penalty in the 51st minute, the chance for Rostock to connect seemed great, but exactly the opposite happened. The nimble Richard Mueller escaped his guards and scored the 4: 1 with a shorthander. The heavily shocked Ostseestädter had to accept the 1: 5 again by Richard Mueller (53rd) and the 1: 6 by Valentin Pfeiffer (55th). Mike Schmitz drew the line with the 7: 1 in the last minute of the game.
Saale Bulls Halle – Hanover Indians 6: 4 (3: 1, 1: 1, 2: 2)
It was easy to see in this encounter that the Hanoverians have overcome their away crisis. Two weeks ago it would probably have been in double digits, but this time they made life quite difficult for their opponent, the Saale Bulls from Halle, despite being 3-0 down. The Bulls, in turn, had vowed to make amends after the somewhat embarrassing 3: 5 home defeat. The result was a start that had not been seen in Halle for a long time. Leon Fern (9th), Artur Tegkaev (15th) and Jannik Striepeke (17th) took the supposedly clear lead, the latter even having a shorthander. The re-strengthened Indians showed morale, however, came through Nicolas Turnwald (19th) to 1: 3. After six minutes of play in the second third, the events rolled over at short notice. First Maximilian Pohl (27th) scored in the majority to make it 2: 3, in return Lukas Valasek, a few years ago also in the Indian dress, scored 4: 2 in return. It got really hairy for a quarter of an hour from the 30th minute of the game. The nicknames increased, the referees had to send several players to cool off in the box and in the 42nd minute the time had come. Bulls striker Michal Schön let himself be carried away to a stick blow, got a fiver plus playing time and the Indians equalized within a minute. First captain Branislav Pohanka met (42nd), then Brett Bulmer (43rd). The Halle defense was able to prevent further goals. Ironically, Indians captain Branislav Pohanka gave himself a penalty in the 57th minute and the Indians cover, which was not so solid, promptly conceded the 4-5 from Halle’s Finn Valtteri Hotakainen. Now Indians coach Soccio had to react, of course, took his keeper Lukas Schaffrath out of the box and was punished 4: 6 a minute later, 15 seconds before the end, when Valtteri Hotakainen increased his goal account to 14 goals again.
Tilburg Trappers – Crocodiles Hamburg 1:2 (0:1, 1:1, 0:0)
After a few successful weeks there was a somewhat surprising setback for the defending champion. Surprising also because the Dutch besieged the opposing goal in places as usual, but failed again and again due to the flexible defensive of the Hamburgers, whereby their keeper Kai Kristian could again show a creamy day. In the first third it didn’t look so bad for the Trappers, even when Maximilian Schaludek (14th) gave the Crocodiles the lead. When Thomas Zuravlev (24th) added the 2-0 to the 1-0, the Dutch got nervous, although they initially made the connection very quickly. Reno de Hondt reduced the game to 1: 2 in the 30th minute. After that, the Trappers received four penalties in a row, then the Hamburgers three, but all seven power plays went unused. Although the Trappers took their keeper from the ice seventy seconds before the end, the Dutch did not use one last Hamburg penalty either.
Hannover Scorpions – Icefighters Leipzig 7: 1 (0: 1, 2: 0, 5: 0)
In the short term, the possibility of Leipzig’s victory seemed to be possible. In the first third, the Icefighters dominated the encounter and they have to be reproached in retrospect for not being able to use several of the Scorpions’ penalties. From this point of view, the 1-0 score by Robin Slanina (5th) was unsatisfactory. In the second third the Scorpions picked up speed and they scored their two goals at psychologically very unfavorable times for the Icefighters. After 16 seconds, Robert Peleikis equalized and six seconds before the end of the third, Fedor Kolupaylo took the first Scorpions lead. There has been no discussion of the winner for the past twenty minutes. The Scorpions started out like the fire department and they succeeded. Julian Airich (42nd), Patrick Schmid (44th) and Louis Trattner (47th) easily increased to 5: 1 and then there was the appearance of Tomi Wilenius. The Finn increased to 7: 1 in the 50th and 58th minutes.
Black Dragons Erfurt – Krefelder EV U23 7:3 (2:0, 4:1, 1:2)
Two strong thirds were enough for the Thuringians to clearly put their opponents in their place. The hosts scored two goals in the first third without penalty, scored by Kyle Beach (11th) and Petr Gulda (14th). When Petr Gulda received the first penalty of the game in the 34th minute in the second twenty minutes, five more goals had been scored in the meantime. First, Tilman Pfister (23rd) and Thomas Schmid (25th) increased to 4-0. After the 1: 4 from Philipp Kuhnekath (31st), Arnoldas Bosas (32nd) and Justus Böttner (33rd) even increased to 6: 1. After Sean Fischer (44th) scored 7: 1, the black dragons’ hunger for goals was satisfied and the Krefeld team was allowed to do some cosmetic results thanks to Marcel Mahkovec (56th) and Maciek Rutkowski (58th).
