“Go, people revived” in front of the monument of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Moscow – 2024-08-08 12:29:02

/ world today news/ The Bulgarian community in Moscow paid tribute to the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius at a solemn ceremony in front of their monument in the center of the Russian capital.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Economy Bozhidar Lukarski, who is visiting Moscow, Bulgarian Ambassador Boyko Kotsev, Defense Attaché Brigadier General Detelin Mazgurov, diplomats and representatives of the Bulgarian community, the Bulgarian Embassy in the Russian Federation reported.

In his speech, Ambassador Boyko Kotsev noted the contribution of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius and the Cyrillic alphabet to the spiritual development of Bulgaria, as well as to the unity of Slavs.

“The Cyrillic alphabet created special ties between Bulgaria, the Slavic countries and Russia. These ties are not subject to time and modern challenges. It was the work of the first teachers Saints Cyril and Methodius that strengthened the spiritual bond between our peoples more than 1000 years ago, and this spiritual bond has not been broken and in the most pivotal historical moments,” said Ambassador Kotsev.

The ceremony, organized by the government of Moscow and the Slavic Fund of Russia, was attended by representatives of all Slavic countries, the Moscow City Hall, the Russian Orthodox Church, Russian public organizations, etc.

The Bulgarians were the first among all representatives of Slavic countries to lay a wreath at the monument. This tradition is observed every year, but now for the first time, in addition to the anthem of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian anthem of the letters “Go, people revived” was played.

The Chairperson of the Slavic Fund of Russia, Galina Bogolyubova, awarded the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Boyko Kotsev, with the Order of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius – an award given for his contribution to the preservation and development of the Slavic cultural heritage.

Note: The Minister of Economy Bozhidar Lukarski is on a two-day visit to Moscow. His program includes meetings at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, a meeting with representatives of Bulgarian business in Russia, as well as a Bulgarian-Russian business forum on May 26 at the Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow. The minister was accompanied including by the executive director of the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises Marieta Zaharieva, and by the head of the Bulgarian Investment Agency Stamen Yanev.
