Go beyond design and master aerodynamics! Sharing between Lamborghini design director and aerodynamics expert – CarStuff People and Cars

Lamborghini’s designs are extraordinary and incomparable, and today’s models are the result of more than sixty years of inspiring and future-proof originality. But, like Lamborghini’s heritage and its brand DNA, performance is at the core and ongoing innovation of Lamborghini’s design studio and R&D team.

The interrelationship between Lamborghini design and aerodynamics is illustrated in the “Beyond design, mastering the air” video, by Design Director Mitja Borkert, who coordinates Ugo with aerodynamics, aeroacoustics and vehicle thermal management. Riccio explained together. They reflect on the relentless inspiration and drive, whether personal or embedded in Lamborghini’s DNA, to combine art and science to create masterpieces such as the new Lamborghini Revuelto.

Mitja Borkert says, “My design inspiration comes from many sources, music, art, other means of transportation that I love, memories. We always, always look more than one step ahead, we sketch, we push boundaries, we perfect, we think deeply, We set trends: that’s what you see at Revuelto. Lamborghini’s designs have a rhythm: a rhythm, a beat, each element and each note connects to the next, creating a whole and a shape.”

“You know at a glance that the Revuelto is an aerodynamic character in its own right. But it’s more than just a look: it’s intrinsic to the tension of every line, the muscularity and tightness of every surface, but also to the softer, A more human shape that is sensitive and embraces airflow. The design must be perfectly integrated with aerodynamics: this is what we believe in.”

Automobili Lamborghini design director Mitja Borkert leads the 20-person Centro Stile design team, overlooking a large team of more than 60 experts; while in the R&D department, Ugo works with seven engineers specializing in aerodynamics, as Part of the R&D department team and led by Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr. Design and R&D teams work closely together to continuously collaborate, challenge, test and deliver.

Ugo Riccio said, “The Revuelto is a masterpiece of integrated design and aerodynamics. Look at how the Revuelto encounters airflow at every angle: its shape makes sense.”

“The high-energy aero runs across the side of the car via the front fenders: the way the aero connects to the Revuelto at every turn is a testament to the design, where we always strike a balance between form and performance. Even the door handles have been carefully designed to optimize Airflow. Take the roof as an example: it maximizes cabin space for the occupants, but the shape in the middle is optimized for airflow, reducing drag and pushing aerodynamic force toward the car’s rear wing. The three height positions of the rear wing are respectively Maximizing efficiency, speed, handling and downforce is a testament to Lamborghini’s aerodynamic innovation, but the rear wing design also ensures that the Revuelto’s profile is pleasing and engaging in every position. Every aspect of the Revuelto It’s all about balancing form and performance: the design allows us to master aerodynamics.”
