GN seizes shipment of half a ton of synthetic drugs at a checkpoint

Mexico City. Elements of the National Guard, in coordination with Customs personnel, secured a shipment of almost half a ton of synthetic drugs, consisting of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine that was transported in a tractor-trailer headed to Calexico, California, United States.

During surveillance and crime prevention inspections at the Nuevo Mexicali-Mexicali II checkpoint, the authorities inspected a tractor-trailer with a dry box, whose driver received a red light at the tax traffic light, that is, he was obliged to undergo a customs inspection.

“The person, who voluntarily agreed to inspect the unit, stated that he was transporting merchandise for dental use and was heading to the city of Calexico, California, in the United States; however, inside the dry box, behind the cargo, they located a black plastic bag and 13 cardboard boxes that did not correspond to the documentation presented, so they proceeded to review them,” indicated the National Guard.

Nine wrappers of cocaine were found in the bag, weighing 10 kilos; In one of the boxes they located 39 packages of fentanyl weighing 41 kilos and in the remaining 12 boxes they found 199 packages of methamphetamine, weighing 446 kilos.

The National Guard detained the driver and placed the truck and the seized drugs at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
