Gmail app for Android may launch “Gemini AI summary” – ePrice.HK

Earlier, Google renamed its Bard AI service Gemini and planned to gradually replace the current Google Assistant and integrate it into other Google applications in the future. It is reported that the Android version of Gmail program will be the first to introduce Gemini’s “smart summary” function.

According to foreign media reports, program miner AssembleDebug stated on the social platform X account that the “Summarize This Email” function was discovered in the latest version of Gmail for Android (v2024.03.31.621006929). This function button is located under the email title. Once clicked, an email summary will be automatically generated, allowing users to quickly understand the content of the email, further improving the efficiency of Gmail and saving reading time.

Currently, this feature is still in beta and is not yet available to all users. It is reported that Gemini’s “Smart Summary” feature was launched earlier than the desktop version of Gmail, but is only available to Google Workspace users. When it is officially launched, it will be compatible with most Android phones and tablets running Android 14 or above. As for the compatibility of lower versions, it has not yet been confirmed.

The Galaxy AI function was added to the earlier launch of the Samsung S24 series and its One UI 6.1 version update. Among them, Samsung Notes’ note summary and Samsung Internet Browser’s web page summary have similar functions.
